Why We Stay Stuck (Even When We Try to Change)

So how many of us made New Year's goals with the high hopes that this would finally be the year things changed…
We bought the planner, made the list of to-dos, and even started doing all the things.
Now that it is the middle of March, how is it going?
The majority of us find that despite our best efforts, we have reverted back to our normal patterns.
This is not laziness. Most of the time our life circumstances haven't changed, and when we try to create different results by only changing our actions, it rarely lasts.
Did that just trigger the thought…
“Wait, are you telling me I am never going to lose weight? Ugh…”
No.
What I am saying is that real change begins with becoming aware of the patterns running your life and releasing the emotional weight that keeps those patterns in place.
Why We Feel Stuck
Finding efficiency in life is what a mom does.
We find what works with the least amount of resistance and do that over and over again.
Life happens, and circumstances are usually the same day to day.
Go to work.
Clean the house.
Do the laundry.
Take care of the kids.
Make sure everyone is fed every day.
How we choose to think about these circumstances creates how we feel about them.
Those emotions then drive the actions we take, which ultimately create the results we get in life.
The problem arises when we fall into patterns that keep us stuck and unable to move forward.
Taking a step back and becoming aware of our patterns is the first step.
We must know where we are and how we are showing up before we can decide if those patterns are serving us.
Just like our New Year’s goals, most people try to simply change their actions. But real change starts with awareness of our thoughts and emotions before the action even happens.
My challenge to you is simple.
Sit with yourself without judgment and ask yourself these questions:
- Where do I feel stuck?
- What in my life currently feels overwhelming?
- What are my thoughts about this situation?
- How do those thoughts make me feel each day?
- How do I respond when I feel that way?
- What results are those patterns creating in my life?
But your job is not done here.
Awareness alone doesn’t create change if we are still carrying emotional stress and stored reactions in our body.
Emotional Weight & Stress Patterns
Do you ever feel like life just feels heavy?
You are doing the same things you have always done, but somehow everything feels harder.
Life brings us all kinds of experiences, and with those experiences comes a wide range of emotions.
Happy emotions create a high vibration throughout our bodies.
Negative emotions create a lower vibration. And we all know that grief, sadness, pain, and disappointment don’t feel good.
Sometimes when difficult emotions show up, we choose not to feel them.
Instead of processing them, we push them down.
Trauma, shock, pain, and disappointment can sometimes be more than we can process all at once.
So our bodies store them.
Over time, this stored emotion becomes the emotional weight that so many of us carry every single day.
Ask yourself:
- Do I feel emotionally heavy in my body?
- Have I had life experiences where I wasn’t able to fully process the emotions?
Just like we create efficiency patterns in life, we also create emotional response patterns.
When stressful situations happen, many of our reactions become automatic.
We shut down.
We withdraw.
We react with anger or overwhelm.
These patterns are learned responses, not personal failures.
But again, awareness is the key before any change can happen.
Here are a few more questions you can explore:
- What situations trigger strong emotions for me?
- What thoughts happen right before I feel stress or overwhelm?
- What emotions do I experience most often?
- How do I cope when I feel overwhelmed?
- What long-term impact are these reactions creating in my life?
Once we become aware of the emotional buildup we are carrying and the patterns we have developed, we can finally begin to change them.
For me, the most effective way I have found to release emotional buildup is through energy work.
Once that emotional weight is cleared, we can begin shifting our mindset and choosing how we want to respond to life moving forward.
My First Experience With Energy Work
Becoming aware that we are stuck in patterns — and that we carry emotional buildup from life’s trials — can be incredibly freeing.
Years ago, I was a wife and a mother of three busy boys.
I had just gotten pregnant and was simply living the day-to-day routine of life.
Then life gave me an unexpected trial.
I experienced a very difficult miscarriage.
Six weeks later, my father passed away.
The emotions were overwhelming, but life keeps moving forward whether you are ready for it or not.
I grieved the best I could and eventually fell back into my Type A habits of making lists and focusing on efficiency.
But the truth was… I was stuck.
Life felt heavy.
That is when I saw Heidi.
It was a simple hour-long phone call.
She guided me through identifying the emotions I was carrying, validating them, releasing them, and then adding positive affirmations for how I wanted to feel moving forward.
This was my first experience with energy work.
And I remember feeling lighter.
Releasing that emotional buildup gave me the capacity to reflect on my life patterns and begin moving forward again.
Why I Do This Work Today
Over the years I have had many life-changing experiences through energy work.
That is why I trained and became a Simply Align Energy Work Practitioner and Life Coach.
It has become my mission to help women who feel stuck in the heaviness of life lighten their emotional load, shift their mindset, and move forward creating the life they truly want.
